2012 Wish List

Things I’m looking forward to in 2012
A new year brings new goals, dreams, and aspirations. Here are some of the things that I’m looking forward to in 2012.

Of course, being a writer I have to start with books! Yay for books and the excitement they bring when you find one that takes you on a fun adventure right along with the real-as-life characters. So, two of the books I’m dying…yes dying to read in 2012 are:

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver.

Goodreads Blurb:

I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame
It’s set for publication feb 28th, 2012 by Harper Teen. I’m drooling to get my hands on this sequel to Delirium. Yum!
And…drum roll…
Fever (The Chemical Garden #2) by Lauren Destefano

Goodreads blurb:
Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.
Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.

In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever.
Expected publication: February 21st 2012 by Simon & Schuster. Another book that’s drool worthy. Awesomeness!

Not to mention my agency sisters and critique partner's books that are coming out along with my own in 2012! Yay! I will post more about theirs as they get closer to publication.

In 2012, I’m also looking forward to visiting places I’ve never been. On the agenda so far this year is:
 Aruba

Turks and Caicos

Greece and Italy.
Doesn’t this pic of Greece look like a postcard? I so want to explore this place.

I’m definitely the most hyped about going to Italy. I’ve never been before, and am so excited to go. Having written a scene in my upcoming novel, SPECTRAL that’s set in the Piazza San Marco, I’m especially stoked to check it out because in a way I feel like I’ve been there after the research I’ve done…well in my mind anyway. =) Definitely have to go on a gondola ride, check out all the pigeons, eat at the Café Florian, and wander the Coliseum in Rome. Oh, and let’s not forget about eating!! I’m going to Italy after all. Remember Eat, Pray, Love? LOL Yay for Italy, la dolce vita!

And finally, one last thing I’m looking forward to in 2012, is getting back in better shape! After Christmas and all the eating I’m sure to do in Italy, I’ll need it. I actually love to work out, so hopefully I can pull the diet part together with it and feel fitter and healthier.

So, these are some of the things I’m looking forward to in 2012. Along with hopefully having a bunch of friends visit me in Toronto, hanging with my amazing family, and finishing my current WIP I think I’ve got a full year’s worth of things to look forward to.

What books are you anxiously awaiting? What things do you have planned this year?
Happy New Year to each and every one of you! I hope this year brings all your dreams to life.

  5. We spent a couple weeks sailing the Turks and Caicos islands a couple of years ago. They were AMAZING. The carved rocks on Provodenciales were INCREDIBLE. Sailors who were stranded made carvings on the top of the hill so people would know where they and their ship had been stranded.

Sounds like you're going to have a blast this year!
