Touch of Death Giveaway, Review, & Interview with author Kelly Hashway

Goodreads blurb:

Jodi Marshall isn't sure how she went from normal teenager to walking disaster. One minute she’s in her junior year of high school, spending time with her amazing boyfriend and her best friend. The next she’s being stalked by some guy no one seems to know.

After the stranger, Alex, reveals himself, Jodi learns he’s not a normal teenager and neither is she. With a kiss that kills and a touch that brings the dead back to life, Jodi discovers she’s part of a branch of necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus. A branch of necromancers that are descendants of Medusa. A branch of necromancers with poisoned blood writhing in their veins.

Jodi’s deadly to the living and even more deadly to the deceased. She has to leave her old, normal life behind before she hurts the people she loves. As if that isn't difficult enough, Jodi discovers she’s the chosen one who has to save the rest of her kind from perishing at the hands of Hades. If she can’t figure out how to control her power, history will repeat itself, and her race will become extinct

Review:

Touch of Death will suck you in from the beginning. Jodi Marshall may seem like an ordinary girl at first... going to school, boyfriend, friends etc…but she’s anything but normal. Unfortunately, she’s about to learn the hard way just how different she really is.
When Jodi hits a deer with her car and it comes back to life, she's shook up. When the school nurse dies shortly after Jodi’s visit, she is freaked. When a green-eyed stalker hounds her, she is really on edge…and with more deaths (a shocking one), and what she soon discovers about herself, Jodi’s life will never be the same again.
I love the mythology in this book, especially the parts about Medusa that really gave a twist to what you think about her. And Jodi Marshall is so relatable that I really rooted for her along the way while discovering what was going on in her crazy, out of control life.
Add in a great plot, even more awesome characters, zombies, and mythology and you have amazing story written by the awesome Kelly Hashway. Check it out! I can’t wait to read the sequel, Stalked by Death.

Interview with the author Kelly Hashway:

Hi, Kelly and thanks for visiting my blog today! I’m so happy you've agreed to answer some questions so we can get to know you and your newly released book, TOUCH OF DEATH better.
Thanks for having me, Shannon.

What’s a typical day in the life of Kelly?
Well, if it’s a school day, then after I drop my daughter off at kindergarten, I head home where I’m at my laptop from 8:45 until 2:45. I usually eat lunch at my laptop, too because I get a little lost in my work and can’t pull myself away. After I pick up my daughter, my afternoon is spent playing with her and helping her with homework. Then it’s dinner with her and my husband, playing until my daughter’s bedtime, and back to writing until I go to sleep.
Sounds busy and lots of writing. Cool.

When you’re not writing and it’s an off day, what do you like to do?
What’s an off day? LOL. I write every day. I feel off if I don’t. But on weekends, writing waits until the evening. During the day, I’m running, playing with my daughter, shopping, going out to eat, and doing other things with my family.
Wow, seven days a week of writing. Not sure I could pull that one off. LOL

Who are your three favorite authors or who has had the greatest influence on your writing?
Rick Riordan and Becca Fitzpatrick are my favorites. I know you asked for three, but I’m kind of a rule-breaker. I think they both are amazing with action scenes and tapping into the readers’ emotions.
I love them both, too. They’re amazing. Great choices.

How did you come up with the idea for TOUCH OF DEATH?
I was researching another book at the time and I came across a lesser-known myth about Medusa and the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus. According to the myth, Ophiuchus became a healer after Athena gave him two vials of Medusa’s blood. One vial had the power to restore life, and the other vial was poisonous and could take life. Ophiuchus never used the poisonous vial, but it made me want to create a cast of characters who were descended from Medusa and had both of these abilities.
Totally a cool idea and I loved the Medusa stuff so much!

Which of all your characters is the most like you?
Jodi. She and I are very accident-prone. I can hurt myself sitting still. I love that Jodi is somewhat of a klutz, yet she’s really powerful. We also share the same birthday, December 8th, and we both drink tea in just a few gulps so it doesn’t get cold. And the biggest similarity is that we’re both willing to do absolutely anything to protect the people we love.

Well then, I already know I like your online presence, but if you’re like Jodi, then I’m totally sure I really like you. Jodi is a great character
.
Let’s play pretend.  Let’s say your book is going to be made into a movie. Yay! If the choice was yours, who do you cast as the main characters?
You know a lot of people have asked me this and I can never give an answer. In my mind, Jodi is the girl on my cover. If she can act, I’d want her for the role. And Alex is so tough to cast because I love him. I totally have a crush on my own character. LOL Maybe Alex Pettyfer? He’s got the first name already.

Just for fun:
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Favorite snack? Coffee ice cream
Favorite season? Fall
Favorite color? Green
Thanks for stopping by, Kelly. I wish you all the success in the world for your book!
Thank you, Shannon! <3 font="font">
