Haunted lake

Feeling the dew beneath my bare feet,
they scream to me now and beg for retreat.
The wind whistling through the trees,
across the tall grass, sweeping with ease.
Pushing me closer to the mysterious lake-
black and beckoning, hauntingly awake.
Visions of creatures obscured below,
In its cavernous depths lurks my darkest foe.
Vines and serpents entrapping my soul,
Hidden terrors reside to achieve that goal.
The stench of seaweed and rotting fish,
invade my senses like an unwanted kiss.
And then miraculously my saviour is born-
upon the horizon, sweet glimmers adorn.
The mountain top ablaze and full of glory,
like a bursting volcano revealing its story.
Sunlight glows in radiant shades;
glimmers of yellow, orange and red cascades.
The creatures of the lake, hesitate, dissolve and then fade.
